We were so lucky to have Mrs. Corley come to our class this week to lead us in a Digital Citizenship Breakout activity. Students worked together to solve clues and riddles to unlock the box filled with digital citizenship swag. Mrs. Corley led our class in a great discussion about digital citizenship and Internet safety. Be sure to ask your child about what he/she learned! A picture celebrating our successful breakout can be found here.
Students in my math class interested in retaking the Chapter 2 test will be reviewing in class on Tuesday, October 22. The retake will be in class on Wednesday, October 23.
Don’t forget to check and sign your child’s Friday folder. The pockets of the Friday folders can be returned empty on Monday.
IAR reports were sent home in your student’s Friday folder today. These reports show students’ performance on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (formerly PARCC) last spring.
Remember that parent-teacher conferences are next week on Thursday and Friday. Students received reminder slips in their Friday folders today. If you cannot make your scheduled time, please let me know as soon as possible. Fifth grade students are encouraged, but not required, to attend conferences. I’d love to have your child be a part of our conversation, but if that does not work for your family at this time, no worries at all.
CogAT testing continues next week. The CogAT’s measurement of three different content domains ensures that educators receive a balanced view of each child. The CogAT consists of three test batteries: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Nonverbal Reasoning. Testing totals 90 minutes in length and is given in three thirty-minute sessions over three days. Results will be sent home in November. 5th grade will be taking the CogAT the final test on Monday, October 21. We will begin testing at 9:10.
